About Unity Collaborative
Unity Collaborative Non-Profit Corporation is a grassroots community-based nonprofit helping underserved families in Williamsport, PA, and surrounding areas.
The poverty rates in Lycoming County are high and breastfeeding rates are low. We are committed to decreasing breastfeeding barriers for minority women.
By offering a wide range of classes and no/low-pay lactation consulting appointments, we strive to foster an environment of learning for women/parents and babies to increase lactation and initiation rates.
OUR MISSION
To increase lactation initiation and duration rates by expanding lactation education and support to low-income pregnant women/parents, infants with feeding difficulties, and various minority families especially Black and Brown women/parents.
OUR VISION
It is our vision to be a “safe haven” for breastfeeding clients where they can feel comfortable and welcome.
We aim to establish trustworthiness by delivering consistent, evidence-based lactation education and support services to our clients, so they feel empowered to refer us to their friends and families.
By offering a wide range of classes, we strive to foster an environment of learning for women/children of all ages; to nurture future breast feeders by teaching them and normalizing human milk for human babies.
